Second consortium meeting in Madrid

March 24, 2022

Last week we had our second consortium meeting in Madrid. It took place from March 15th to 19th. We spent three days presenting the data and analysis being developed by each strand of the project, discussing the conclusions of the first year of ethnography, the preliminary results of the sensors study, and the design of the survey and climate models. We also brainstormed what to do next, making concrete decisions on the themes to explore from an interdisplinary perspective and the schedule for publications.

To expand our research network and project’s impact, in Madrid, we also meet with our collaborators from the COOLTORISE project and from Ecologistas en Acción (Ecologists in Action). In the meeting with the COOLTORISE project we developed our collaboration in the heat adaptation awareness workshops they will be carrying out this summer, with citizens in a situation of energy poverty. We also meet with the conferedation Ecologistas en Acción (Ecologists in Action), representing 300 ecologists associations and organizations, to find issues of mutual interests in our research and to organize a collaborative public event in their headquaters next year, to present the study’s finding to the citizens of Madrid.

Finally, we walked around Madrid, looking around places where ethnographic study has been done and looking for the epicenters of the urban heat island.
